This guide explains how to relocate the fibre box within your home or office. If you would like changes made to the fibre cabling outside your property, please specify that it’s outside and not inside when opening a support ticket.
Most customers have an ONT, so this guide will use ONT for the ONT or CPE case.
๐ How to Move Your ONT #
- Open a support ticket with Atomic to request the ONT move.
- Accept the cost of the ONT move, usually R1500 exVAT.
- Atomic will then open a ticket with your fibre network.
- The fibre network will contact you to arrange a visit and move your ONT.
- Atomic will add the ONT move fee to your next invoice.
๐ก Extra Info #
- Fibre networks also use the term re-install when doing an ONT move. An ONT move and an installation usually has the same price, so you can use this opportunity to ask the fibre network to change the cabling and wall boxes as best suits you.
- Fibre networks often view ONT moves as low priority. Some networks can take two weeks to move an ONT.
- Some fibre networks use external contractors. They may quote you on additional work or trunking, depending on how far you need to move the ONT.
๐ค Advanced Option #
It is possible to buy a pre-terminated fibre cable and use it to move the ONT to a different part of the room. You need to make very sure of the connectors on each side of the extension cable before ordering it. The fibre networks will often glue the ONT to a wall, so be careful when removing it. Note: this will probably not work for Vumatel AE lines.
